One reason I use Aspen

I might get some aspen from rotherham! It'll sit in the tank for a month or two on petrol fired stuff I don't use often, and be fine. I agree with the view most people share. There needs to be better marketing and awareness of the fuel to make it more wide spread. Shops like boutique garden centres or homebase, or even b and q (who charge 7 quid for a rotting, mildew covered bag of logs, and people buy it) should be able to sell enough of it to those who earn a good wage to lose a few quid off the price. As for recycling, why not take them back to the shop and have them refilled? Or mix them in with milk bottles and take them to a household waste center? Most people there are happy for it to go in if its got the appropriate recycling sign on it, and they do.

You are dead right zeroluke, there is nowhere near enough awareness of Aspen, but the problem for AAoil is where to advertise.

I sell a huge amount of Aspen, but about 75% goes to Jo Public, who only knows about it because I have told him. Where would we advertise to such a person, he probably reads no trade journals.

The members of this forum are probably the most aware group of people in the UK, but sadly are a fairly small number of people in comparison to the potential customer base.

On the subject of recycling. There is no reason why the recycling facilities should not take the cans. They are made of exactly the same material as milk bottles and carry the same marks. Just remove the sleeves.

They cannot be refilled at UK outlets because Aspen is not stored in bulk in the UK.

Question:

If this product is such a marketable fuel, and as good as it says on the tin, (and I'm not saying it's not) how come Aspen have not placed it successfully in the big outlets such as B&Q . Surely it should be the sort of product they'd love to stock, and their buyers would be attracted to? If someone such as B&Q were to stock it it would give it credibility to the general public, as it would be ideal for fuelled tools that generally sit in sheds for months at a time between use. I'd have also thought that the potential customer base would be far larger than one or two people buying it here and there at small garden machinery outlets (no offence to the small garden machinery outlets either :001_smile:)

I think B$Q prefer their customers to just buy another budget machine in the spring when they find the previous years machine wont start :sneaky2:
