Just tried my first batch of Pickled Onions, and had to run to get some water. Wow there hot, mind you they have been pickled with about half a dozen Scotch Bonnet Chilli peppers:jumping38::jumping38::jumping38:

I like mine done with a brown vinegar and brown sugar brine.I made some years back, but don't remember the quantities of ingrediants.

What is the recipe of your batch?

Malt pickling vinegar with some pickling spices and the chillis to taste. the trick is finding good quality onions, the harder the better. :001_cool:

Hi Sambo, Its not hard to do your own, you will need.

1. Large jar (sometimes you can get a large jar with the pickling vinegar already in it).

2. Vinegar (see above) (I like malt vinegar) Sarsons do a good pickling vinegar (once the onions and spices/chillis are in fill to the top with vinegar

3. Small hard pickling onions (hard because they can go soft in the vinegar) you should be able to get them from farmers markets or a good fruit and veg shop (you will need to peel the skin off and top n tail them)

4. Pickling spices (normally made up from pepper corns and dried chillis)

5. Add your own chillis if your feeling brave.

6. Leave for about 4 weeks before trying.

Enjoy :001_smile:
