Onions - How do you like yours?

off on an 88man tangent but i used to know a timber haulier called mr onions(name plastered all over his lorry) i rang him one evening to arrange some timber collection "hello,is thst mr onions?" reply "its not onions,its oh-nyons"!!! i think he must have been watching keeping up appearances!!

Hi Sambo, Its not hard to do your own, you will need.

 

1. Large jar (sometimes you can get a large jar with the pickling vinegar already in it).

2. Vinegar (see above) (I like malt vinegar) Sarsons do a good pickling vinegar (once the onions and spices/chillis are in fill to the top with vinegar

3. Small hard pickling onions (hard because they can go soft in the vinegar) you should be able to get them from farmers markets or a good fruit and veg shop (you will need to peel the skin off and top n tail them)

4. Pickling spices (normally made up from pepper corns and dried chillis)

5. Add your own chillis if your feeling brave.

6. Leave for about 4 weeks before trying.
