Just a little advice needed, employed forestry arb worker who has own landrover 130 is asked to use it at work by owner of company who offers to sort some derv money, in my world this is just a little vague and i want to sort out something a little more fixt (milage allowance) as fell into this trap with past employers.

Do any outher arbtalkers have anything in place like this for truck/gear use to help everyone know where they stand.

I think you will find normal SDP insurance covers you if you travel to one work site per day and do not leave there until home time. If you are driving to different sites or even tipping at different places you may not be covered and will require business insurance. Isn't mileage allowance set by the Inland Revenue at 40p per mile? May be a little higher now as that is what I was able to claim a few years ago in a different job I had.

Insurance is not a problem as am also self employed so landy has full business cover and towing cover incase i have someone elses trailer on. Just was wondering if anyone elss has a set deal with employers. HMRC say 45p a mile now but not sure wot this is all about.
