2 boys: kip and fabian (fab)

Kip is old eng for pointed hill- we can see chanctonbury ring from our house, though he slept really bad for years.

Fab means bean grower (wife called bean) and also means gradual non revolutionary change to socialism!

sent from my Defy so apologies for poor spelling and grammar

  • 2 weeks later...

We had loads of girls names lined up but ended up with 3 boys and we struggled with all of them. Ended up with JJ (Jay Jenson), Eddy and Kai.

I would say have a short list and then get to know your new baby for a week or 2. None of ours were named immediately. You can get fixed on a name before he's born and then come to realise that it just doesn't suit him. So, my advice would be to hold off on the actual name for a bit.

We went for Peter (my late father-in-law) and Guy (just liked it). They're both 'old' names but simple, everyone can spell and pronounce them, but these days pretty rare.

I have a fear of finding I share a name with some serial killer or something - there must be a few blokes called Ian Huntley, say, whose lives were made miserable. Nothing you can do about it though, just saying. Although, obviously don't go for Adolf or Osama....

Cant help on the girl front but we have 2 boys. My missus is Norwegian so Norse names were the obvious for us.

Haakon - named after his G Bestefar on the Noggy side, also it means highest son or first born. Plus, Haakon was the king of the Vikings.

Torstein - means Tor's (Thor's) Amulet or Hammer. His Bestefar is called Thor and he came out a right little chunketh, so the rock of Thor seemed to fit as a name.

I think you can have an idea of names if you know the sex but they don't always fit. Best to wait and see.

We were lucky as both names had appropriate meaning and suited them. We would also have been screwed as we had no backups - hehe!

Good Luck on the birth.
