70-80 hrs a week, 7 days at this tme of year. The winter servicing work should lessen around Easter so looking forward to getting my sundays off again.

In work for 6am home by 7, then Arbtalk and email from home.

5 to 10 hours over the weekend.

 

So at a guess about 70-80 hours a week, but I enjoy it and I think that makes a difference.

65-80hrs a week. I like being a self employed tree surgeon 8hrs Mon-Fri, I despise running a company.

exactly. enjoying 80 hours is much better than hating 40 hours.

i dont count hours whats the point ? you dont get paid by the hour .... being self employed is a life style and way of life you should remember the loved ones around you and make time for them . work smarter not harder get help in when you need it be that jobs at work or home you cant take your cash with you when you pop off .

30-40 hours max a week using subbies as and when required. Work 4 days start around 8.30 and always finished before 4 plus a few hours a week quoting and sorting kit. This gets me close to the VAT limit. The wife works a lot more hours than I do and earns more than I turn over so I am primary care for the kids and run the house, shopping, etc. The tree work is just to stop me getting bored when the kids are at school and it funds all my shooting.

When your in your 20s building a business and trying to pay a mortgage you can work long hours and goes with the territory. Problem comes when you get in your 30s and 40s and you have children. Need a better work life balance or family life suffers. Most people who run a business and are earning a good wage work longer than they realise. It can be difficult to turn off I sometimes find my self online ordering parts at 10pm for kit and vehicles and dont count this as work.

I tend to do 60 - 70 hrs a week but try to have Sundays off with the wife and kids.

That includes quoting and paperwork.
