Sthil 260 a good saw to start off with and with a 18" bar you can fell a decent size tree. Could do with abit more power when it comes to cutting big stuff in to disks, but keep it sharp and it will do the job

another vote for the 560xp, probably the best mid range felling saw, will run bars from 13"-24" in theory so will cover most bases, and its not to heavy to carry in the woods all day. I've had mine 4months now and its the saw i fetch most often for felling.

Husqvarna 560XP but be sure it is a recent one and not one of the first batch . The first batch cut out when under load and were hard to start when warm . The latest all seem to be sorted. A sorted one is the best 60cc saw on the planet >

I have been a groundie for a few months and have been using my MS260 with 16" bar. Its ok for most stuff but struggles abit when trying to ring 4 foot sections! Mind you its the only saw I have at the mo and has coped with almost everyting I have thrown at it, just keep it sharp!
