I have a Husqvarna 357 which is not running correctly. It starts and runs but there is a lack of power. I have found a small metal pipe that comes off the side of the engine and is openended. You can see it in this photo

When the saw is running and you put your finger on it the saw cuts out.

Anyone know whats either missing or whats wrong??

That's a decompression button you push it in for starting and it should pop out when the saw fires if it doesn't try pulling it out when its running or before you start it see if that improves it there only a couple of quid from eBay if that's the problem.

That told him Steve ! The original numpty I mean

Technically, he is damn lucky it didn't seize, I have two EPA ones that did through having a faulty valve. To do this mod and not seal the pipe shown no knowledge of two strokes and how they work.

The pipe will let in air on the upward stroke weakening the mixture and allow fuel vapour out on the downward stroke causing lack of fuel vapour velocity in the transfers - not good, just fitted new crank bearings on my 357 and ported it - should be a screamer - I unscrewed the pipe, threaded the hole and JB welded a bolt in the hole!
