Ropewrench PPE?

maybe over in the UK, not here, I'm the owner of my bizz, the lead climber, so yeah, I call the shots ;) and the shot I call 99.9% of the time is the rope wrench :) My base tie is lower-able from the ground so even if a RW malfunctioned and the hitch seized, i could get out man, plus i always have an "8" on my saddle as well.

I call all my own shots too mate. I can use anything I like. However, if you hang your body weight off something then that thing is classed as PPE.

Lowerable base ties and hitch seizes or not.

If you want to hang your life on something that's not rated for the job then it's up to you. Personally I go for rated stuff, Like they say, there are old climbers and bold climbers but no old bold ones.

You do not hang of a rope wrench, it's your hitch you hang off, only in srt mode whic the rw allows you to do.

Tools like th rw may help make us all old climbers or at least some of us.

So Al, are you stating the RW is not safe( in your opinion) because it has no CE rating?

and you are not hanging your weight off a RW, when engaged in work/lower mode, it is sharing some of the load from the hitch, but it never supports you, the hitch does, same in DdRT, if the hitch fails, you fall, right?

everyone has their opinion, and this is a good thing, have you climbed on a RW/SRT Al?

Im getting the sense that in europe, you either climb with a ce hitchclimber system or a ce lockjack. Can you tie your own hitches? Hitch cords shiuld be rated to hold 5,000 lbs ( here in states.

Most climbers in the UK climb with their own hitches and long may it stay that way.

Anyone who hasn't used a wrench should try one, maybe at a couple of feet over a bouncy castle, until they understand the principle involved.

Surely that would make more sense than simply slagging it off because it hasn't had a gazillion pounds invested in getting a CE stamp which it clearly doesn't need.
