Yes your right. Sorry, pretty tasteless.

Just trying to make the point that we all need something to fall back on at times and it might not be important what that is if it gets us out of the dark place we are in.

Thats the problem with people, we are fragile.

:blushing:

No problem :001_smile:

Its a very emotive subject.

I know people for whom faith has been the making of their lives and other who's lives have been destroyed by religion.

Differences in beliefs can be hugely distractive.

thats out of order implying that he was refering to the post about that baby.

shame on you huck, expect more from you

Have to agree with you, but we all know skyhuck has strong feeling on this subject and we have been here many times before, again I repeat it's a shames the original question can't simply be answered and respected. My wife is a member of a forum called natural mums and the way they handle such threads puts us all to shames. If someone asks a question like anyone Christians on here they will simply reply yes or no, maybe start a Christian thread and and leave the debates for the threads that are more debate orientated. If you wanna have this debate would I no be a better idear to start a thread called "what do you believe in". Just a thought:biggrin:

I'm not a Christian but there are some very good messages in the Bible. Even written 2000 years ago there's still some good stuff there....

Do have spiritual inclinations though - I feel there is something after life... but no idea what....

Interesting that you were a Jehovahs witness Dave - how do you view those times now?

I must apologise again because for me it is not really religion that is emotive but more human nature.

Come on - a thread like this is always going to lead into debate. What's wrong with it going into a debate anyway? :confused1:

There is nothing wrong with debate about people's beliefs, but as I said before the original post was a genuine search for like minded people within arbtalk, shame people can see and respect this.

Very mixed mate.

I got a wonderful wife and a very sheltered childhood and early adulthood out of it, but I also live with a view that now did not matter, it was all about being a good boy now a doing all sorts of wonderful things in the paradise to come.

I know people who I grew up with that have forgone having a family to preach and believe they can have their family in the paradise:thumbdown:breaks my heart when I think of what they have missed.

Life is here and now, live it, enjoy it!!!!

This ain't no rehearsal or audition for better things to come!!!!

IMO.

My grandparents where mad on god and Jesus an all that, if they let me make my own mind up when I was growing up i may have had a different opinion BUT after being preached at, over and over and over, I came to the conclusion that it's all rubbish made up by some prophet smoking the wrong bush!!
