Tried a brand new 338 that was just pants, it had been back to the dealers because it was so under powered but when it came back it was just the same. Once bitten etc.

not trying to teach you to suck eggs and all but mine was one of those saws you needed to run ten tanks of fuel through then retune most dealers will set there saws rich to advoid warrenty claims during the run in period...most 200ts infact saws ive had have been the same that 346 i tryed the other day had done 2 tanks though and was an exeption and it probably would of been evan better with a few more hours on.

880 have been new cap for 2+ years, once stilh have used up the screw cap castings they'll change for the vastly IMPROVED caps.

Why any one would not like them is quite beyond me :confused1:............. but then when colour TV arrived some people still preferred black and white :001_tongue:

i stand corrected on the 880 caps...

i just think the new caps are un-necissary, ive never had a problem with screwing... only flippidy flopping:001_tongue:

10 tanks seems like a lot of running in to me. I think every 200t ive had has run strong straight out of the box.

We tried tuning the 338 we had but all to no avail im afraid, must have just been a "friday" saw :001_tongue:

I do like the style of the husky top handle's ie the ergonomics but until I try an good un I wont be buying one.

mine has been and its 3 years old, people seem to have trouble starting it though but ive got it figured its pretty damn easy really and i feel like losing my temper with my groundy when he cant get it going! I can say i look after my saws i evan keep them in the house! is that wrong!

Do you think that the older 357 is better made then the newer ones?! Out of the three which i used the oldest one was the best and one was pretty much brand new. Someone i was working with said that the newer ones play about more because they have been tampered with too make them more environmentally friendly or something? Not sure if thats the case or not.

i keep my saw in the house so i hope not!. It gets worse though when you start thinking of which room is best to keep it in over night! Hope thats not just me . .

I've got a 338, and it has needed a period of running in. I use 200T's at work and are a better saw IMO.

We run five MS 260,s they are a good daily use saw, a bit under powered with 16" bars on but for the weight saving it is worth putting up with. A common problem with 260's is that they cut out, this is almost always the large clip getting loose in the centre of the saw.

I also have a 357, excellent but heavy.

066 with 30" bar is an awesome saw.

Worst things about Huskys: bars wear quickly; on/off choke switch; many pulls to start; in-board clutch; difficult to replace chain brake band.

Worst things about stihls: AV mounts; noise they make; air filter design.

The 357 has an outboard clutch but not all Husky's do. What type of clutch is on your 200T:001_tongue:

Rather than listen to the views of the folk here , good and valid they may be, seek out the Forestry Commission technichal reports on chainsaws from forest research , technical development branch . They have lots more than just road tests.
