201t don't believe the negative hype!!

Before Christmas because of many negative posts on here about the 201t not being as good as the the 200t I rang Dick Leigh (my local dealer and a legend to all who know him) and asked if he had any 200's left, he did and said he'd put my name on one.

 

Today I went to Dick's to pick up the saw, while there I thought I'd have a look at the 201, it looked really nice and felt very good in the hand. The top handle is a much better shape, the AV's seem much better, the shape of the whole saw is just better, they have even put "idiot marks" on the caps:001_rolleyes: for those of you who struggle with such complex equipment:001_tt2:

 

So I asked how they had been finding the new saw??

 

They have only had one back with problems, that turned out to be a faulty spark plug, so easily fixed.

 

So in the end I decided to take a 201t, instead of the 200t.

 

Its fantastic:thumbup:

 

Its the same as the 200, but better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I'm so pleased its a good saw and that Stihl have not ruined the tool I use for 90% of my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whenever a new saw comes out some people rush to rubbish it.

 

In general modern saws are so much better to use than their equivalent models from 15-20 years ago.

Still haven't tried one yet. The 200 is still running and I've got plenty of spares for it out of the three in my spares bin.

Yes I have loads of spares and that was one of the things that made me want another 200, but the 201 was just too tempting, it really is much better IMO.

 

I still have a decent 200 thats only 18 months old, so I'll keep that going with the spares I have.

 

Another point I forgot to mention in the OP is the switch, thats much nicer to use and protected so should not be knocked by accident.

I am very glad to hear this positive report, as I have just sold my first 201 to a cutomer who has had loads of 200t's. Was getting a little worried. Thanks.

But neither of them lasted more than 5 hours... I get at least two weeks out of most saws!

i've had a 201T since befor christmasz and i'm very pleased with it. i've not used a 200T as i had a 192T befor so cant compare the two.

my colligue said it doesnt rev up the same as the 200T, its a little slower but i've been told this is a modification made to save the carb.... the 200T having had alot of problems with that i belive, i know someone with a 200T who has had 2 carbs in 3 years of using the saw.

so if we have to put up with a saw that revs just a little slower to start but doesnt need a new carb fitting at regular intivals, i see this as a good thing.

I think yours needs tuning properly.

 

I have read many post stating similar, but when I first heard mine (as they tuned it in the workshop) it sounded exactly the same as my 200, when I said "that it sounds just the same"

He replied "well it is".

 

Mine is just as good as my 200, but better, more refined and user friendly, IMO.
