Business ambition?

Seems to be most wanna stay small? I agree staying small means less hassle, stress etc.. And you get to stay on the tools actually doing the job but at the same time ambition, dreams and possibilities surely is what being in business is all about?

 

I suppose it depends on what you want out of life and I don't just mean finacially but also being content and happy.

Hopefully i'll have my own company at some point and i'll be the main climber until i cant climb any more, then just go around quoting and being a general lord-of-the-manor. i'll keep it at one team. nice and simple, less headache.

My aims and ambitions have changed lately, due to an unforeseen health problem. I now want to just get back into the job, enjoy it for what it is, work with people I like to work with, and do it as long as I can.

I wait for oppertunity, a bit like waiting for good wave, so it's either treading water or yeehaa!

 

I don't go far to find the wave, so the chances of good ones are less, but it suits my nature .

I want to grow my business slowly and steadily, possibly diversifying into other areas, while I would still like to be climbing in years to come I don't want too be doing it every day...

 

One saying that is true is this:

 

Its easy to make money when you have got money.

This is true even on a very small scale. If you see an opportunity and you have the cash to capitalise on that opportunity then you can, and if you haven't got the cash then you can't.

 

for the last 5 years or so I have always had a "float" of around 10k spare cash, now I have much more than that, I really like having the ability to grasp any passing nettle that I might like the look of, it could be a bargain machine that comes up of even a piece of property, I may even decide to start some completely different business...

 

Like Stevie says being in a position to ride a wave of opportunity is a great way to be.

Keep it simple and basic. Might earn less then some but then less stress and valuable tools to be stolen.

stay small. always working. keep staffing levels down then they always working. be honest with clients. work hard. and be able to sleep at night.will do for me.everything else will then come along.

hoping to get a tiny joinery machine shop going in my garage this year producing gates, log stores, animal housing etc, just to see where it takes me, if i can get it to full time and earn decent money, then that will do for me. Being able to work from home, and spend more time with family is time well spent me thinks.
