I tried and cluster ******.. Dak is the man..my next attempt was the biz.. Thanks to Dak's advise. There is a video by New England Ropes that is quiet good. Give it a go. I did and am well chuffed.

I have a question about whiplocking compared to lockstitching, I only use a whiplock to secure my splices but saw in a previous thread Peter suggesting it is mostly decorative.

 

So should I lockstitch and then whiplock or is a whiplock sufficiently strong in it's own right?
