You have got to wonder if it's worth persevering with firewood when

Customer phones up asking if I could tell him how much a trailer load of logs is worth (size 5'x4'x1')

I ask if it's hard or softwood

He answers "I think its soft because it's white inside"

It transpires he has access to a 30 acre wood and he's going to sell firewood from it.

All's fair in love and war and all that but this guy already has a good job.

He goes on to say he has bought a McCulloch saw on-line but was disappointed as it was advertised as "easy start" and was expecting a start button or key but it seemed to have a pull start.

He proceeds

The saw ran OK for about 10 mins then stopped, would I know what was up with it ?

At this point I was about to put to put the phone down but I thought I'd ask if he had any PPE (had to explain what PPE is).

He replied

"I'LL THINK ABOUT THAT ONCE I'VE MADE SOME MONEY FROM THE LOGS"

Is it worth trying to produce a quality product when there are clowns like this out there.

it does make u wonder why u bother i will agree with that, but remember he will only sell a few loads once he's realised how hard it is and that the customers are more fussy than he ever gave credit for!!!

Loads round here like him. He will soon pack it in when he realises what he has to spend on proper equipment, advertising, insurance etc. thats if the hard physical graft doesnt get to him first.

 

Keep in with him though it might get you access to the wood:thumbup:
