probably not the best idea to be doing class 1 splices on a class 2 rope until youve fully got the hang of splicing. Im not saying its not a good splice but just something to think about. Modern HMPE fibres act a lot differently to traditional fibres. maybe use 10mm beeline instead...

I have a AP e2e but can't get a needle through it near the eye to stitch and whip it? I have some needles size's 13-19 the 13's just snapped at the eye when trying to stitch and the other quite larger needles won't go through?. the twine i have is waxed lyros off Nod it may be 1.5mm. Do i need thinner twine also what's the best needle's? any help greatly appreciated

Sailmakers needles, I use the medium for AP snapped my little ones, but will get more. Not sure on size i'm afraid.

You maybe trying to put it through the cross over, make sure you've buried the cross over sufficiently.

Also bending the throat of the splice and a rubber mallet help to loosen up the fibers!

I use thinner twine for my AP 0.5mm maybe 1mm, i'll check n let you know tomorrow.
