stein jackets

hi was after a few ppl's opinions. am looking for a new jacket for through the winter.....am considering either the hi-flex(bit costly) or the stein evoloution. any other suggestions would be great too. main considerations tho are

heat build up......need to keep me at reasonable temp not constantly trying to heat up oe cool down

waterproofing....bit obvious but also how it stands up after washing

build quality....needs to be able to hold up all winter.........any comments apprieciated

I reckon the Hi-flex to be an autumn or spring jacket as its quite breathable and light but not waterproof in the slightest

i tend to use the sthil lightweight waterproof thin jackets as i always overheat in padded jackets,id rather add layers if cold at least that way u can always remove when too hot.

i have the stein jacket, so far so good, waterproof, open the vents if you get too hot easy to spot me in the tree. not sure how it holds up after a wash as I haven't done this yet.

 

reckon it is pretty good value for money.

I've had a stretch-air jacket for about 4 or 5 years now. Its very well made, I'm on my third zip, but its wearing pretty well!. You only need a t-shirt underneath it when climbing, its not waterproof any way or form (not meant to be!). Get yourself an Army-surplus goretex for that (about £40).

i have both the stien and the hi flex and like them both

the hi flex is reasonably bright and showerproof and very nice and soft to wear

the stien is nice and bright and seems very waterproof and is good to wear any time though not as soft as hi flex

if both got lost tomorrow i would buy the stien as its half the cost and just as good imo although i would probably buy this one in the pic which i believe is made by the same company though for cycling and comes with a small back pocket and is £10 cheaper than the stien and seems to be much better value for money but as we often see tree stuff = more money

or am i been cynical

I would never wear such pukka outdoor kit to work! Love my mountain kit but never mix it up with work gear!!
