Heavy duty brushcutter recommendation advice needed

Hedge cutter head on a pole saw or strimmer that can change angles is bet, just start at the front and shred the lot.

 

that would be gutless in comprison to a proper Stihl brushcutter.

 

an fs450(or whatever the modern day equivelant is) is the kiddie!

If its tussocky grass herbs etc I would suggest a flexiblade (oregon) It is heavy duty strimmer wire with serrated edges, You have to have a special head (flexihead or somthing) and it can have 4 blades of wire instead of standard 2. I have this head on my kasawaki 48, deals well with rushes bracken etc. Its not as good as a tri blade on woody stems tho.

Thank you arbtalkers for your help, I agree that the 2 and 3 mulching blades are v.good , Steve I have tried hedge trimmer systems at reduction of this type of material if you’ve not tried the blades ( oregan do them as well as others ) give em a try you’ll be amazed.

I have the big back pack brush cutter, when I got it they gave me a circular saw blade with it, useless!!

this was a good few years ago, they must of come on a fair bit by the sounds of it, I may give 1 a try.

I agree, I tried the circular saw blades on my husky brushcutters and found them to be useless and very very dangerous .

echo i dont care what anybody says there the best strimmers you can buy i have one bought i new in 2003 still works a treat and it have had that much cosh i ware the hads out ive had arond 12 heads on it the vibes ar super low and bags of power

I have the biggest stihl clearing saw/brushcutter fitted with mulching blade, and have been clearing brambles and blackthorn myself this week, you won't go wrong with the big Stihl FS 550, when clearing large areas blackthorn, rose and bramble you need all the power you can get.

we use sthil fs480,s (think? or simmilar model) and they are great never hand any probs and they seem to love getting stuck into clearing tough stuff
