I've had several goes in Anna's and i hate it the side D's are a pain because they are fixed. You bash yourself up on them.

I love my tree magic it's just not comfortable to hang in i.e. when ivy stripping.

They are rigid for sure. I wear it below the hips and didn't bash my elbows once, but we all have our own unique posture so who knows. Well, it takes a lot to impress me and I like it, especially the idea of having rigid leg-loops, which I believe enable an easy transtion for a seat-harness-user like myself.

i currently use a komet sliding d harness and will be on the look out for a new one soon, so mr c you recon its a good transition? i cant get on with the likes of the butterflys etc, 5 years in the same sit harness has made me hate anything unless its a sit harness and it cant crush my hips!! may think of getting the ekn

Hi chaps interesting thread, I was under the impression that after 5 years your harness would fail a loler inspection is it still the case

Tony

As I understand it, each harness model is given a working life expectancy by the manufacturer. Most are 5 years, the ekn is longer.

Don't you find the leg logs crush you after a while it it makes you hang back / lean back to far ?

Not so far. I have tried other leg-loop harnesses in the past that have nearly killed me, just cut right in and had a real choking effect, I weigh 11 st. On one particular occasion I turned out my worst pruning job ever because I was so uncomfortable and distracted as a result. The kolibri leg loops appear longer than the other harnesses I tried, so that, combined with the fact that they are rigid seems to spread out the pressure and choking effect that I experienced wearing the others.

The only sticking point that I can envisage is if a person had great big thighs (I don’t) which would then have to squeeze into the mold.

A seat harness has always suited my particular style of climbing better but since I’ve become aware that my hips are getting damaged as a result, I’ve accepted the fact that I have to switch to leg loops if I want to continue climbing.

I like the adjustment, the attachment points, the bridge etc, it just has a real solid feel to it. I have looked at other harness this year, some good, others just too fragile looking i.e. I doubt they'd even last me a year with such optimistic stitching, fabric and design.

Hey, each to their own….absolutely! It’s a shame you can’t try before you buy with something as personal as a harness, which is why I feel pretty lucky in choosing this one:proud:

I've heard from a dealer that Cresto are giving their Skybelt range 10 years.

These figures are pretty pointless as a harness could be useless and unsafe after just 1 year of climbing.

I think the main point of the extension from 5 to 10 is due to harnesses sitting in shop storage waiting to be sold. They have a date of production on them and some potential buyers have been reluctant to buy a new harness that has been in the shop for 2 years etc as it would only then in theory be good for 3 if you follow all the Loler legislation.

Reg, looks like a good harness.
