it split an old knarly log & chucked a bit 6-8 ft away ...............a bloody ace bit of kit

i posted one on here the other day that would be ideal, send me your email address and ill email you some pics

saw that before thread was deleted imo your splitter looks ok for straight grained timber but on big knarly lumps you've got a good chance of bending the foot plate and/or twisting the beam

not saying its badly made more that it could have been designed stronger, the same could be said for many splitters i've seen

sorry for derail as to original post pto pump would be better

Just looked at browns splitter. Nice kit but pretty pricey. There must be other places to get this sort of splitter for less or have one made.

i think you can get a browns for around £650, thats not pricey in my eyes. excellent piece of kit and will last a dam sight longer then a £300 chinese built one off ebay.

I have a 600quid chinese built 25 tonne splitter off ebay and i can tell you its very well made with all parts double thickness compared to the british one. The only complaint is the fittings are all odd sizes!

what about a 10 ton oxdale 3 point linkage on ebay new for around £500

I have an oxdale, its amazing, does everything you need it to, and about the cheapest available. also they guys at the factory are really friendly, its a proper British - made in a shed- job

and I'm fairly sure they do alternatives to hydraulic (i.e. PTO etc).

Bought ours four years ago, no problems as yet!
