Does anyone else just really dislike the concept of spiking? i can't seem to get on with it at all, just feels really odd, guess it just comes with practice...

Try climbing spindly ash birch and sycamore on a windy railway night shift. After that spiking most things seems like a walk in the park.

i've only spiked about 5 times, but it's just an odd concept to get used to, but i'm sure it will get easier as time goes on, well thats the theory anyway...

you do get used to it mate.. ive done about 10 dismantles on spikes now and it gets easyeir each time. after about th 5th or 6th time

Spikes are ace!!!!

 

Its just a shame that these days people get worked up about use spiking trees that are being retained.

 

Back in the day your spikes went on with your harness.

totally agree, i will sometimes use em on rough barked trees (monterey pine etc)if time is against me,cant even notice where youve been. I expect to get shot down in flames now!!:001_rolleyes:
