Selling THE BULK BAG

I'm selling 1m3 bags fora keen price at £75,

Its dry well seasoned and predominantly hard wood.the customers that buy it love it .BUT the problem I have is educating potential customers that I sell a cubic metre bag and most of the local competitors sell 0.65m3 dumpy bag/builders bag for £50-£60 making my price (cube) seem expensive.

I'm of the opinion now that maybe I should just go with the 0.65 m3 bag and charge accordingly.

Volume and bulk bags seems to be a big grey area for the customer to understand,but want I want to know is do the majority of "you" sell your bags in 1m3 or dumpy (0.65m3) bags ??

been done time and again.

can not beat em or educate em so,,,,,join em.

most on here sell in 0.65m3 anyway, and

only big bags ive come across are certainly wood and logs4u

Me too, stick with it and it should work itself out as the customers educate themselves as we do indeed live in interesting times.

tell them you sell 1mx1mx1m bags/ 1m cube bags.

Dont call them builders bags

 

let them know that buiders bags vary in size from 0.6 - 0.9 cubes and let them work out the rest

just be polite - they will probably go away and ask the next guy - what size his are - if he's truthfull (or knows) they may come to you anyway if the cost adds up.

If he lies with your words ringing in the customers ears and they measure the size of the bag they may come to you.

 

you have to be happy with the product you sell.

 

we dont sell many loads of logs but we sell 1.2 metres cube on the back of a wagon tipped on the drive etc. we sell it as a cube for £80.

I always find myself explaining what a cubic metre is and mentioning builders bags as a guy up the road sells small builders bags for 35 quid.

Those that come to us for logs always come back.

Cutomers may need a little explanation but soon catch on and are generally pleased with the amount of logs they get. It's worth a few minutes on the phone. And then of course they know for next time.

 

Customers always return if the price is fair, the logs are good, and the service is pleasant and on time. And they recommend neighbours etc too.

 

The quantity can be confusing for the customers, but personally I'd stick to the cubic metres. You will even find that other suppliers in your area follow suit eventually, as we have. (As long as they can grasp for themselves what a cubic metre is of course.)

You could just advertise one and a half builders bags for £75. Then, without changing anything, you'd be at least as cheap as your competitors in your customers eyes as well as their pocket.

we sell a half cube bag @ £60 & a full cube bag @£120, the half cube bag is way more popular in our area, i think firewood is one of those trades that you will always be fighting against other folks wrongly advertised loads/quality, keep supplying a quality product with a reliable service & you will keep busy!!!
