Fair point about the ppe and lack of chain brake saw and stuff, but good on him for being able to wield a saw like that at what ever age he maybe. He has probably forgotton more than most know about handling properly large timber, and knows a usefull trick or 2 also. If I can get about like that when I'm his age, I'll be well happy with that. Fair play. Imagine how good he was 30 odd (or more) years ago?!:001_smile:

agree with how annoying low kickback chains are. get a nice savage square cutter. ur at pretty low risk from kickbas on large saws like that

 

No.Some 090's have a gear drive and kick back like you wouldn't beleive.

 

Don't stall it in a cut either.

Shame to fell itm, I think those old boys just wanted to play with their toys.

 

I saw an advert in the Agrimart for a guy with an old 6x6 winch truck like that, he was using it to winch out bogged combines, probably did a roaring trade this harvest.
