I disagree, I removed two trees today that I severed the ivy on 12 months ago, it was so easy to remove:thumbup1:

Next time I get an ivy stripping job, I will sever it first and go back a year later to remove it :001_smile:

any time im pricing and get the go ahead there and then i will sever any ivy on the trees, even a few weeks dead seems to make a difference.

ivy yes, we recently section felled to spruces, had to spike up, but couldn't get through all the ivy, so it took about 5 hours to get the ivy of then an hour and half to actually get the tree on the deck. didn't make much money on that one cos i underestimated the ivy!

Gardening jobs, (as I call them): trimming and pruning shrubs, hedging etc; if I can't climb it and attack it with a chainsaw it's a gardening job...

Ivy: I get it off with a chainsaw, stroke/slice it off like I'm combing it with the saw, flat of the bar parallel to the tree, it comes off easy and doesn't hurt the bark if you are careful. Doesn't work if the ivy stems are thick though.

Scariest job: snatching tops out.

dragging wet willow out of river then over the rotten fence you dare not touch then the long uphill drag across the manicured lawn down side of the house(minding the loose sky wire and dodgy plastic downspout with sharp 90degree turn to the waiting chipper and then the clear up...:001_rolleyes:
