Is "Ladder" swearing?

I have been out of it a bit now and things have changed but seriously: does nobody use a ladder any more? Are they even legal these days? What are your thoughts on ladders?

nothing wrong with ladders when used in the right scenario. Like others have said mainly hedge work, but i will use them to gain access into a tree, always make they are being footed.
