I do in my own saws, especially when working by water courses

 

canola (rapeseed) oil has a particular affinity to metallic surfaces, which helps. you do get through it quicker than normal horrible bar oil, but its cheaper, better for the environment and Its not quite so horrific if you get a bit on you

 

keeps my bar nice and cool too. never had any problems, and there are lots of other people telling the same story

We do the Stihl oil 20 litres for £26.21 + VAT, if that helps.

That's agreat idea, I must admit the thought had entered my head a few times. Currently using Sthil biosafe (i think that's its name) very expensive, I've tried the cheaper ones in the past but they have caused problems with the oil pump. Would love to give the veggie oil a go. Anyone else out there use veggie oil??? Any problems?

Yeah i tried veg oil, was good but the pump keeps getting blocked by burn chips and bits of fish!
