Rope Wrench feedback

Hi Craig i never clip to my hand ascender, just strop over my shoulder and into the wrench.

This is what I've been doing too and although it works efficiently it's a slight faf having to adjust the lanyard to precisely the right length every time.

The small strop from the ascender to the WR sounds ok. I'll try that.

The best system I think might be the really basic Petzl chest harness. It's about £20 and the straps are thin so it won't heat you up in the summer. It basically clips to the back of the harness, comes over the shoulders and is length adjustable.

Anyone got one?

Could use an old inner tube from a tyre, cross into figure 8 shape and put over shoulders, use beiner to attach to RW at chest height, free from a bike shop, save £20:thumbup:

I've got the chest harness you mention and I didn't like it. I clipped the croll onto my bridge ring which probably should have gone direct to the bridge as when working it pulls and gets uncomfortable!

The Marlowe braid has an average breaking strain of 6628Lb or there abouts, to work out the working load I think you need. To know the minimum break then divide by 10, on the above figures that gives you 628Lb. A 10 stone boy free falling 1 meter (140Lb) would double in weight or shock load.

I will get some more accurate figures in a minute!

What do you guys think of this rope as SRT line? Price seems good and it's not black like the rope I bought from them to use as speed line.

Marlow Rope Marlowbraid 10mm

Its not bad, i'd only use it for SRT access.

One of the nicest lines is the Sterling HTP stuff (known as snakebite in Sherrils) It very Static but still with a litttle give, unlike the Globe Dyneema which has no give what so ever, again i'd only use them as access line or for RADS type positioning.

Not been following the thread to much but what do you want the Marlow for, work positioning with the RW?
