Rope Wrench feedback

Recommended Posts

Taupe, I read about the SJ and someone said they used a longer sling or tether that went from the SJ down through the Velcro and onto the SJ karabiner.

Apparently the distance from the friction device to the RW (when your weight is on the RW) should be equal to the length of the RW.

Also, check out Ian flatters' 'Some Rope Wrench Shots' on the video forum. It's turned into another RW thread.

There's been a bit of chat here about ropes for SRT and I wondered if 11mm abseiling rope is suitable for what we do.

It's static rope and half the price of Poison Hivee.

What do you think chaps??

Im using 10mm Globe 6000 and it works a treat. Not sure what the price is on access rope Vs Climbing rope tho. Im sure mine was only £98 for a lot of rope.

Thanks guys for the rope info. I've got a 60m Marlowe abseil rope so I'll try it.

Right, I'm really into this now as I just climbed around a tall narrow busy maple on my RW and loved it. My technique is crap but I totally get the deal now so, my next question:

Using a LJ I see that when I sit back on it, it's twisted until I descend a touch so the RW gets into position. This concerns me as it wasn't designed for this.

I can picture in my head that a SJ wouldn't do this but I don't have one.

Ian Flatters and other LJ users, are you worried about this?
