WOW i never ISC are making it. Did they buy the rights forall of Kevs inventions or just the ZK-2, Is it even going to be called the ZK-2.

Yeah its just a re-design and improvement of the ZK1 but serves the same purpose.

Just a quick embarrassing one.

 

Dead multi-stemed crack willow dismantle late last week.

 

Banged line in at around 12m so thought tie off at the base & work the stems srt wr.

 

No big shakes couple of fences to miss but straight forward enough.

 

Anywho anchor spar to climb remove branches on the way up chop chop drop ect, then... A small branch off back of stem leaving a little stub & oh sh##! forgot I was on srt with a base anchor on same spar..

 

I was a good few cm from my line that was running down the back of the spar.

 

Lessons learned, when working srt remember that the line I am so used to seeing is not my only concern whilst cutting. Flush cutting to the trunk on a side I cant see is not a good method, always look at what I'm cutting! (complacency Is not a good look).

I was stropped on with my lanyard but I am a git for forgetting to do that too sometimes.

 

Could have at worst ended with me needing to buy a new climbing line that day, but woke me up to working in close proximity to my base tie off srt.

Agreed, iv forgotten the rope is there sometimes from a base tie off. Thats why i try not to use when i can,from what your saying tho this seems like a very good reason for a base anchor.

 

So then...youve got the problem.........whats the solution?

I agree. I try to avoid a base anchor due to the risk of cutting it and the extra bounce that occurs on your rope.

 

The solution: I think the only solution is awareness. Of course that applies to everything we do though.
