Bobcat + log splitter idea ?

We have been wrestling some large rings onto our vertical splitter to save the back I had an idea. If I weld a basic log splitter onto a bobcat back plate upside down I could stand the rings on end and chase them about until they were liftable. Before I create another of my useless monsters any input appreciated. I may be overcomplicating the solution but I dont want to spend out thousands on a horizontal splitter. Difficult to explain but a horizontal 3pt linkage machine faceing downwards is the best way I can describe it.

Well done thats exactly what I had in mind must have seen it somewhere before. Has anyone bought stuff like this from the states through ebay what is carriage and taxes like. Or better still could something be modified in the uk from a manufacturer. I would not use it for final logging just to knock the 2ft rings down to something manageable especially as cord wood will not be getting any smaller.

Why not just weld bobcat brackets to the back of the vertical splitter? Might need to cut the log table down a bit (though probably not if you only want mechanical assistance lifting really huge rings) Then you could just position it over them and activate the ram (plumb it in to the bobcat 3rd service, lock the 3rd service on and have a bit of string attached to the splitter spool lever leading into the cab) just enough to grip them. Crowd back 90 degrees, get out the cab and start splitting.

Cheques payable to 'Bodgitt and Scarper' please.
