These forums are very informative and it is important for us all to respect every members opinions. It is also important to pass on information to others on all matters, especially Health an Safety. Those of us who support Aspen fuel are very frustrated when others argue against us, as we are only trying to help. I dont see anyone argueing against the use of chainsaw helmets or other PPE because they have never had an accident. IMO Aspen is as important as other PPE in looking after your health. You cannot put a price on your health. But thats just my opinion.

Excellent point GardenKit, and to add to that, a helmet only protects you when you bump your head. Aspen protects you constantly.

As for the price of the fuel, that is something that you just have to except. A better product is always going to be more expensive then its cheaper alternative although I would love to see the road duty of 57pence per litre dropped on alkylate fuels.

If it was 57p/l cheaper, it would still be more expensive than pump-petrol:confused1:

And even if it were cheaper than pump fuel, there's the tax-man to check it, like they check red diesel misuse.

I have asked HMRC for several years if it would allow the various makes/brands of this fuel type to be sold direct to legal tree business as then it can also be traced like "Red" diesel. (This would also reduce the wholesale prices. (Response:- NO!)

The boss man in Scotland that deals with this at HMRC said a high profile case offered perhaps via MP's who make the laws would work hence the reason of the post I did before.

Like red diesel some people will always use it in road going vehicles no matter the laws.:001_rolleyes:

Out of interest I wanted to know the price pf Aspen 2 Takk in France/Slovakia/Czech Republic as noticed sold there now.

In Sweden and Norway it is exempt from taxes, and has obtained a 50%+ marketshare (AFAIK)

I can tell you that last time I used one of the Aspen filling stations to refill a couple of 25 litre Aspen 2T canisters, the price was 20 SEK/litre, which equals £1.85 at current rates, which includes 25% VAT (deductable).

Of course :-)

I work mostly in residential areas, and don't think it is a good idea to leave behind mineral oil in the soil of the gardens. And I use it in my promotional materials (and website) to indicate that I care about the environment. Don't know if it has any effect, but it may sway potential customers my way.
