Measuring tree heights

I have a laser measure which I stand by the trunk, point it into the canopy to a thickish stem take the measuremnet and estimate the bit above the sten I measured to.

 

Sometimes on a still day I can hit a leaf at the very top and measure to a foot or two.

 

Used this method to fell three big trees into a very small garden with great success, customer was well impressed to see the trees "just" fit. :001_cool:

 

I have the laser for measuring for the Mewp
