Wages??

I earn £120 per day, feed back as follows, small towns like walsall and other black country area's thats quite high, all of staffs and most of brum - thats bang on the money,

south derbyshire and leicestershire thats quite low- average is more like £150,

the reason is most towns are full of unemployment so some guy's find it cost effective to take on unqualified groundstaff , thats why groundies find it hard to get on ,you just can't compete with someone else at as low as £20 a day

And get this , i know a fully qualified company where the groundies are on £30 and the climbers £35 + £7 show up bonus per day for all staff

I'm gratefull to the guy's i subb to ,they are allways happy with my work and i get to have huge fun.

A new forestry grad will get around £20k to begin with though I suspect that will go down with the down sizing of the commission and recuitement freeze so the private sector jobs will be well over subscribed. Though once in if you're employable and work well £30k should be acheiveable. If you want more it is possible but you need to be working for yourself and be willing to invest a substancial amount in equiptment..... But as already said, tree work in general is not something you do for the money.

My god 20 to 30 a day is less then min wage that's taking the biscut I am sure the person paying those wages would not like it if the boot was reversed and they had to live on it .i bet these staff are subbies self employed as if they were employed it would be illegal unless it was for a half day at 6. 20 ph I think this is the new min wage for an over 21 year old .

All the best littletree

what if the business owner has cut back in every way possible and its the wages that are going to put everyone out of work, so they all sat around a table, discussed what they could all survive on and make the most of a bad situation:001_smile:
