Depends where you are.

 

We are still pretty toasty down here in Kent, but it was -6 back in Northumberland at my folks this week (at night).

 

I'd only do a light trim now on a well maintained hedge, even down here.

 

We try and get our big hedge jobs for our educated customers finished by September, and do them again in March before nesting really kicks off.

No I don't think that at all mate. I said late October for this year in particular as we've had a warm Autumn and even then that's the very latest I'd do em. I always tell my customers to have em done in April or May that way they look nice for the Summer then hold onto the foliage for protection for the Winter.

 

Sorry Mick must of been the way I read it. It was on another post you put up on here . Although every Hedge I did last year nearing winter has not been affected by aphids this year ?
