it looks like i will have to eat humble pie the person who told me our new drivers couldnt tow is a very nowledable person and i am shocked if they have got it wrong but i will be chasing and hopefully our new drivers will be ok sorry if i got it wrong

Lee, what in your opinion was so good about it? In my eyes, a Bandit 90, or similar would be a much better machine..?

 

I liked everything about it Ed, i'm not sure about the tow hitch thingy though.

 

I like the way everything is accesable, I like the way it crunches up those bloody forks with ease, imo its a very good strong chipper, its very compact for a 9'' chipper too.

 

Saying that I havn't had a demo of any other chippers in its class, obviously i'd have to give the others a try before I made my final purchase.

When I was hunting around for my new 7.5 ton lorry, I had a salesman from Iveco swear until he was blue in the face that I could legally tow up to 2 tons good job I knew better..:cussing:

Is it just a misunderstanding of the situation?, i.e if the firm had bought unbraked tw150's the new lads could have towed them, but braked are heavier so they can't.

 

What are they towing them behind? its very easy for even the most competent person to be confused by these regs.

that might make sense but will be the phone monday morn to clarify the person who told us is responible for driving regs and operator licences so i had faith in there info

Sorry Bob, if you got sold a brakeless TW150 on the basis that if it had brakes, you need to uprate your licence, yu bin dun! They had big windows there and could see you coming a mile off.

 

The issue there is that a TW150 is so finely weighed, remove the discharge chute, fuel and hydraulic oil and it does weigh less tha 750. Add the bits that make it work and it goes over - hence the brakes.

 

Sorry mate.

 

We’ve got TW 150 DHBs. If you take the spare wheel off the funnel you’re sub 750kg!

Our machines are plated with/without spare weight. No need at all to remove chute, fuel and oil.
