do the more domestic tree surgeons find that their work load slackens off around the winter period i am concidering spending alot on advertising to try and stay ahead of myself advice please

For us Winter is a quieter time of year.

 

We have tried more intensive advertising during this period,however we were just chasing money that people did not want to spend.

 

I think its more rational to budget thoughout the Summer for your predicted quiet spell and perhaps look into alternative income streams such as Selling Firewood or Stealing Scrap for example.

Er... no.

We are at our busiest at the moment and expect to go right up to Xmas. Possibly early New year will be slack.

I'm running a team of 3 most days and will go down to 2 in Jan' for a while.

thanks guys i am trying to establish myself so i personally think advertisment is the only way in parish mags and so on. times are always hard i guess when you are trying to start up in an area with many established experts.

I keep busy by being good at what I do, I can give you numbers for lots of companies that are cheaper than me though. People buy people, you have to sell yourself to customers. I regularly get work where I wasn't the cheapest.

Network, make sure everyone knows what you do, when sending out invoices put in a handful of business cards.

I find that if I have a slack time it's usually around June. I think it's because most peoples gardens are looking at their best and nobody wants sawdust etc all over the place. Autumn is my busiest time of year
