setting rigging pulleys

Cow hitch, timber hitch and even a girth hitch are all ok for this application....the obvious strength loss associated with a girth hitch is worth knowing. Strictly , there is no need to tie a stopper knot with either....if you think the knot will fail, dont use it.

When using the loopie / whoopie for this , remember to use the braided/spliced part of the knot as the girth hitch.....

i'm sure i was told a minimum of four wraps for the timber, not sure how many i do i just keep going until i've had enough. but from now on i'll make sure i do six. don't know how to do a cow, if it ain't broke why fix it. but i like the sound of what mr tree co man said. whoopies are a complete waste of time you have to take the pulley off if you want to move it down over a branch

I either use a 3 tonne sling girth hitch or basket hitch although the latter needs a steel crab.

Also a timberhitch i cant imagine getting an easier knot its almost unbelievable it works i was told 5 wraps and then pull tight to set also use stopper knot extra safe.

What WWL is your guys pulleys strops just got 3 tonne pulley 2.8 tonne dead sling should cover all my needs how bout you guys.:sleep1:

Why reinvent the wheel i say the timber hitch has always held for me. I use it on the timber im about to cut to just do a half hitch first.

Yes but a quicker way if you keep having to move the anchor or run it down the stem when snatching
