Just had the wooden insert in a high lift wedge split a fair bit. Its still useable for now but I'll want to replace it eventually. Its well jammed into the metal section.

what's the best way if any to part them?

Cheers

Or put in the log burner over night and in the morning the wood inside the wedge will be gone...

Don't be tempted to put the ring part in though as this will melt

Really? I've been doing it with mine for several years when the wood has split and never had a problem afterwards...

Why would it weaken them?

Does anyone else put 2 rings on they seem to last so much longer

Yes all the time works well.:thumbup1:

At the bottom of the wedge there is a hole. this is so you can use a punch to push the old wood out. if not drill a hole into the top of the wood and screw in a large screw eye to pull the wood out.
