Did ANYONE mention door knocking??

 

You mentioned door knocking. The guidance says door to door but hey, don’t get all offended, Stay with your flyers if you want.

 

I am simply pointing out that there are ways of getting business that aren’t associated with the tarnished end of the industry

 

I too get plenty of junk mail, I never buy from it but the main problem is the nasty glossy paper doesn’t burn well and is pants for lighting the fire.

I don't use flyer's myself, I am over whelmed with work as it is, and my vehicles are not sign written either. But I applaud any one who uses any means they can to get work!!

 

If they did not work why do the pikeys and others use them??

Normally the big shiny adds are pikeys..

 

But dont blame them blame cheap arse customers who keep them working cos there to tight to pay for skilled workers.

You are putting words in my mouth, I didn’t say they don’t work, Martin said that

 

i tried to design and print my own before..but got no calls!.

 

What I said was there are better ways of spending your advertising budget.

As an opener for a cold call they are an effective marketing tool but they are traditionally used by people who get work by “any means they can”.

I got my flyers done through vista print, and my business cards.

 

its cost around 60-65 quid for around 300 or so, but there very good quality, that what WILL set you apart from the rest.

It worked for me, until i moved and now im doing it all over again, and im geting phone calls now and i've only posted around 150 off them in a local village, and im getting phone calls from all over.

Well I am willing to be convinced, I have done newsletters which worked well, so I am willing to accept that good leaflets can be effective.

 

The outlets you use to get them to your target audience is another matter.

 

The problem is that the first posting asks for “cheap leaflets” and since we all seem to agree that bespoke quality is the way to go……..

out of interest i search other tree surgery companys on google, just to check them out really, but there are companys out there who do say basicaly not to take an interest in companys that fly post which doesnt help the genuine company whos just trying to survive or get started, but good quality flyers DO work.

I did a bit of flier hand posting many years ago,i found saturdays and sundays on sunny days brought work in,people cutting front lawns and washing their cars in cul-de-sacs were easy to strike up conversation with,subtley leaning into tree work talk,being polite and not too pushy,ending up with mostly small conifer work but eventually lots of it,and still serving most of them to this day

It isn’t just other companies that advocate avoiding fly posters and door knockers. Both UK industry bodies have made those noises in the past and in one form or another, to this day. Since there have historically been problems with that area of the industry it is understandable and unfortunate that the industry has taken the stance it has against it
