I just tried it... Probably my own variation. On knuckles, close in shoulder width apart. I managed 13.4 (Stine was the independent adjudicator). But the form was lacking somewhat in the 11,12 and 13 set. I just kept going. Barely managed 5 in the last set so I put it down as 4.

 

If I did palm down and wide I probably would get stuck about 6 or 7. Maybe I'll try again when I haven't had a large Thai meal and beers.

 

hmmm we need to accept a universal technique then, as i was doing wide pushups with palms down

I did it when I was 15, but that was about 5 stone ago!

its too hard to govern though. shoulder width apart would make far more sense

Palms down, shoulder width has to be the benchmark.

We do this as a warmup at Krav, up to 10, except with one punch on a focus mit, then one pressup, two punches and so on. Feel like death after. Dunno if I can push past 10. Arms are dead from 9, not even convinced I have any useful form or any power in my punches.

Can do 100+ at shoulder width but fewer when I do them with a wide stance. Think I'll start the programme again but using the more difficult wide stance.
