Great fell

but....

The problem with his 'even holding wood' is that a small amount of decay on one side of the hinge will send that tree 10s of ft out of intended direction of fell (even with a parallel hinge and perfectly balance straight tree) which could mean the client's house being destroyed.

It's a rare thing to have happen but I've seen first hand on a straight Silver Fir fell a few years ago.....tree deviated from intended direction of fell due to decay on one side of the hinge - the tree narrowly missed a house. The guy doing the felling had failed to notice a column of decay on one side of the tree at felling height.

Interesting that the 14 ft space the guy's felled the tree into was between a fence and a shed, wonder if they would've taken the risk had the shed been a $500,000 house.

Not on your life. I'm sure I could do the same fell between 2 cones or 2 fences with a dollop of bravado thrown in. Put a shed or a house into the mix and I'd be nearly a 100% certain I'd flatten the house.

That was an amazing fell by Dave Stice..don't think ive seen any felling as impressive to this day

You know of this lad Steve? Lucky over-confident fell or very skilled and well judged?

I work with a guy who would probaby attempt that, and have seen him come closer than he'd like a few times to destroying property and himself. I reckon he'll either be making similar videos himself in a few years or have killed someone. He's off to Germany in a couple of weeks so luckily he'll be out of my hair.

After meeting Dave I will vouch for him. He's at the top of the game:thumbup1:

Good enough for me. Saves a discussion based on hearsay. That fell took nuts. Hats off to him. Amazing the way you can watch some guys do crazy stuff and not miss a beat and watch someone else do the exact same thing and have your heart in your mouth.
