Chucked the 371 back together today. Didn't end up swapping the seals as they didn't get delivered, so will hang onto them to fit later. Had a little issue with the clutch bearing/clutch/clutch drum and lost the e-clip and washer. I think it was me being careless more than anything. Compression is definitely improved from before, and I'll find out what it's like cutting tomorrow. I assume it is best to run it in a little rich to start with while the ring beds in?

 

I did get the huztl seal puller and flywheel puller which seem fairly good, although I didn't use the seal puller.

Been looking at both of those myself [emoji848]?, i ordered a new tank/handle and crackcase housing to rebuild a 036, put em to basket but took em out again [emoji849] let us know how you get on with them.

Think they will be ok. Apparently the seal puller is a copy of the stihl tool. The flywheel puller is really simple, and could be made at home, but it would cost more than £4 in time to drill the holes I imagine. There's a video of the seal puller being used in the huztl Facebook group.

Not used that yet either. It's really simple and hopefully robust. Might strip out a 365 I got for parts and build it up with some huztl parts so will split the crank case with it then. Happy to take a few photos, videos etc and WhatsApp them over if you want?

I have one of the Stihl seal pullers and do use it but there are always other methods that work effectively and work well.

Case splitters - got a good selection and the usual method of getting them is just to amortise the cost in to one or two jobs where they are needed and then you have a set for future. One set I made for £10 and work well despite me sticking a broken 6mm drill straight through my thumb! Pictures are somewhere on this thread.
