Got a 044 in bits. Not quite the wrist breaker it should be when cold , to make matters worst it is too easy to turn over when warm & refuses to start when hot. Not been loved, so in addition to new pot etc (possibly) AV rubbers , carb kit & a few other bits, would a repair seem viable?

I would inspect the cylinder and if umarked with no wear through on the plating, fit a new Meteor piston as they are very good quality.

Inspect the parts you mention, add the fuel and air filter plus inlet boot and impulse line.

Worth inspecting the sprocket, the clutch springs and sprocket bearing as well.

This mower had been used this morning before being brought it to see if I would PX it. The owner said it must be worth something as the engine always starts first time, very reliable, he said.

Any keen welders want a project?

I bet they never once cleaned the grass from underneath after use,:confused1: just put it back in the shed.

Some dont deserve tools, all they need is looking after:thumbup1:
