I've used a 048av a fair few times and I have never seen this with my one. Spud I know you used to use one a lot have you ever had this?

Didn't really use it that much, got it running well, nice idle and pulled well, had to fit a new carb kit in it as it had a bit of an issue with loosing power but ended up OK so no real long term use - bit big and heavy for my sort of use - prefer saws to be light rippers:thumbup:

Thanks, a bunch!

I'm hundreds of miles away from my wife and there's nobody else here to test that theory.

Gutted, it's a good theory, as is 'suck it and see' which is one I use a lot when boding repairs, or guestimating carb tuning

FS 90 strimmer has dropped a valve and mullered the piston top. Will need a new piston and valve but the rect seems ok. Worth fixing? :001_smile:

If you can get the parts  yes

It runs reasoinably OK, looks like it has been running a tad rich for some time and the thing won't stop without using the choke....more on that later!

on the bench tonight, my neighbour had a couple of issues on his SH85 (sticking trigger and loose recoil starter) so he took it apart and couldn't figure out how to put it back together. A few cuppa's later, everything is back together with the trigger fixed
