A rush job last night, a non starting 357XP and an MS261 with a chain sharpened by a novice - both were needed urgently.

 

the 357XP was dry, the fuel line looked a bit iffy and had been asked for it to be changed plus the recoil rope was worn and felt horrible, fitted the new recoil rope - cleaned the cover and pulley, fitted the new fuel line and cleaned the carb in my NEW ultrasonic cleaner - has a built in heater and is powerful enough to blow holes in tin foil:thumbup:

 

After re-assembly it ran fine, the chain on the MS261 was ground sharp - not bad - in at 5.00pm and ready by 11.30pm - thats service:thumbup:

quick question what tachos do you guys use ? i have been tuning by ear but now since i have become engrossed in the world of porting and modding i think a little bit more precision is needed seen a few cheap ones on ebay but after my disappointment with cheap things :blushing::thumbup:

 

Do a search on this site - I think Hodge was after one and it lists all the ones we use - mine is a TT-20K Tiny Tach Workshop model - no wires and uses a PP3 battery - good bit of kit - you can get the UK site on google - think the guys name is Richard Dunn - they send you the kit and bill you after receiving the kit

Did a little muffler mod on my MS192T, took out the screen and open up hole. Then trimmed the plastic side cover so it didn't need the down deflector.

 

Didn't make it a 200t, but was a nice improvement. Now it does stall the chain in a full bar cut as easily. :)

My bench looks exactly the same :) for my benefit which way is the correct way regarding the right way up?

 

The two small flat tabs face upwards. It's actually easy to notice for me now its happend as you can pull it off the wrong way up easily yet it holds fast the right way up. :thumbup:

 

Kicking myself around the workshop for not noticing it sooner...

This could be the next victim to me having a go at porting. It has no chain break and is a nice old saw but its not stihl so I'm going to look at it and see what I can come up with.

 

Anyone know if pot and piston is available for it. Not sur eon the number as all I can see is a what looks like a 1 and the others are 0 and 9. So thinking its 109. That's all I can make out so far.
