It's meant to be there, but does look like it's slipped further into the pipe. There's also a flat head screw the other end by the foam filter.

Spud can put you straight on the whats and why fors:001_smile:

The small metal grub screw is a breather screw and allows air to be pulled through the threaded part - it is normal and should be present as it stops a volume of fuel leaking if the saw is tipped.

On the end under the cover behind the sprocket, there should be a foam pipe end filter held in place with a cable tie - this soacks up the little fuel that make it thorough the breather screw.

The flat heat screw Wisewood mentioned shouldn't be there - I removed his as part of the service.

If the pipe is removed, it should let a little air through if you suck on it, this is to allow air to replace the fuel pulled out of the fuel tank. Without this, you would get a vacuum in the fuel tank that would lead to fuel starvation.

The throttle plate should open through circa 90 degrees, sounds like the cable isn't connected correctly!

It's a bit like a one way valve. The one I had wouldn't run no matter where I put the screw. So it came out.

Move it back away from the engine and see how it works.

Without it you should have the pipe fill up with fuel and spill out the chain cover side.

There is a small foam filter under the chain cover that can get really gunked up with saw dust. Clean this out.

Edit. Spud beat me to it again. Had a bit of a rush on when I put first post up.
