Ah well you see its to get round the towing laws. I'm going on that if the towing vehicle has no max tow weight then it can tow well loads. :lol:

 

The mowed is on hold until a new battery turns up.

 

Onto the 100hp outboard instead.

 

Oh and the list of mowers and saws that seem to be getting longer every time I check the phone messages.

Theres no real way of dating these saws afaik.

Most of them have a trigger under the flywheel for the coil. These are prone to break down and again as far as im aware are no longer available.

However all is not lost as a cheap way of repairing and more reliable is to get hold of a nova ignition module and use that at a cost of around £15 and you don't even need to remove the flywheel to remove the trigger. Just snip the wires at the coil and wire/fit the nova.

You will prob see 2 black wires which come thru the casing up to the coil which are the trigger units wires so snip them there..

 

I've absolutely no idea what you're talking about wise but I'll remove the flywheel tomorrow and have a shufty - then i dare say this will make some sense to me - much appreciated. mike

blade rotation when turning flywheel is likely to be seized clutchdrum needle roller bearing (they run on a small bush not direct on the crank ) or one of the clutch linings has become detatched and jammed or possibly clutch spring broken

have known them ingest the screws that secure the airfilter trumpet to the carb

make sure the horseshoe shaped wire on the choke slider is fitted and in the correct position as it knockes the choke off ( they can jam on)

they are a bit of a fiddle adjusting the idle, the screw is at a strange angle accessed through a hole

units made before april 1985 did have points and condenser ignition

 

started cleaning the carb and yep the choke has started to jam - loads of wd40 and fiddling and it just seems to be getting tighter - spring won't pull it back ????

Oh dear - here we go again:001_rolleyes: in the early days, saws had contact breakers and coils, this then developed to a coil and a lump of electronics in a small can that picked up when the spark should be generated and this lump of electronics eventually ended up within the coil itself.

 

Latterly this spark generator within the coil ended up having built in advance but that is another story.

 

The Nova unit is a replacement, I believe, for the early contact breaker saws.

 

I think Wisecobandid may be from the US where the Nova unit is more available!
