Hey Steve what is the standard carb settings on an 088 ?? It says on the filter cover 1/2 turn high 1/4 low and it sounds like it will blow up on these @ around 1 turn each though it sounds spot as usual, so what's up with the filter cover directions?

1 on both according to the wsm

I have done an 880 that blew on those air box settings:thumbdown:

These settings are standard with limit caps fitted.

If the caps are on, they are correct, trouble is, if they are missing, the setting should be 1 turn out on both, a tad more if you are milling with the saw, just to keep the heat down!

If you had run the saw in the cut like that, the thing would have seized pretty quickly in any large prolonged cut!!!

Yeah that makes sense mate... Should of left them on!!

You could re-etch the settings on the air box.....it is a common mistake and have fixed a number of saws like this where the owners have got it wrong!

The vast majority of saws have 1+1 carb settings.

Think I am going to like the 181SE for my own personal saw :001_tongue:. Like I need another 80cc saw.

I was going to throw a 288 topend on it but after reading and learning about the 181 thin ring saws and how good they pulled. This saw dont need the 288 top.
