Just set up an account at your local timber yard and you might be surprised on what you save plus you'll get free delivery so that's £25/30 notes saved from the start. Just bluff and say you do heaps of fenceing ect so you want keen prices from them

Best advice for building it is get a woodmizer in for a day or half day to mill up some of the drier logs in your yard and go from there. Douglas fir, Larch, Oak, Sweet Chestnut are best for cladding, and just about anything else is fine for non exposed stuff. Looking forward to seeing the result!

I'm with Big J we are now building 6 stables using oaks l have collected over the last year. Eight 30 inch butts from 8 to 12 feet have cost me 500.00 and milling about 450.00 into 1 inch boards which is a bit cheaper than 5000.00 i was quoted for weather boarding! Just waiting for final planning permission, yawn?

I'm quite looking forward to building something out of trees i felled.

After you finished it, did you think 'bugger, how do I get it out the door?' lol

No that's going to stay where it is.

but we did build it to come apart in 8 wall sections,

Hiya Mark , not sure if its of any use but im fairly sure that you can get a decent kit form Shed on tinterwed for a really reasonable cost , i was looking into building my own large shed 18 months ago , i realised once i had quotes for the timber thqt it was in fact cheeper to buy a kit form shed and put it up my self and it also lowers the time it takes and means you can be out on the tools earning money .
