World's strongest man masters

I make weightlifting logs for a company that sponsored the Ultimate World's Strongest Man masters. I used to compete a bit a few years back and I'm really looking forward to seeing some of my old heroes competing again.

 

Always a huge fan of Magnus Samuelsson (World's Strongest Man 1998). Here he is, chilling out sat on the log:

 

 

And the ever legendary Odd Haugan, who aged 61 got 130kg over his head (on a log that's almost 18 inches in diameter):

 

 

Any other strongman fans here?

I take it you have to bore a hole right through it, stick an olympic bar type thing in it and cut out the handles:confused1:. Very impressive:thumbup1:

Very impressive. It makes a change doing things that are unique. As a kid i was glued to the tv watching g capes etc, also brian jacks on superstars. Like watching the strongest man whenever its on. Would like to get to scotland one year to watch the highland games.

I wasn't there myself, but my friend who runs strengthshop.co.uk was on his stall at the competition. If you are wanting to order one Yeti, you can get one through the website.

 

I've made well over a hundred of them now. The first couple of batches were really poor compared to the current stock. You just get into a rhythm with them - they are hard work but worth it, especially when they get used in international competitions.

A friend of my sisters was competing this year in the birtish one, I dont know how he got on, his name is Tom but I cant remember his sirname now.

I remember when Samuelson first competed in the WSMC, he was not that big (compared with most of the competitors) he was the world champion arm wrestler. Arm wrestling was part of the contest, there was a huge yank who's arm was broken whist wrestling Samuelson. Samuelson said "I did not break his arm, he actually broke his own arm".

 

His Mrs also competes.

 

Its very sad that he came back the following year much bigger, having obvious taken loads of gear to get so big.

 

Most don't live to any great age, because of all the gear they take, their hearts enlarge.

 

Its a shame theres no way to make it a clean sport that was just down to natural ability and hard work.

I remember that very event In fact I was telling the exact same story to Mike Hill over beers on Thursday eve.
