Chainsaws and the law.

Draining the fuel and transporting in a case would be fine for the mass transit system here in the states. Rover it sounds like you were auditioning for a Capital One Credit Card ad here in the states. If anyone was to ask you "what's in your wallet", it better be a Capital One Credit Card! All the best.

On a similar note, well...kinda, I was once cautioned by a young PC in Imperial Gradens in Cheltenham for carrying a concealed offensive weapon...AKA a (walking stick type) French Auger...thought it was candid camera moment, ha!

Follow up with chief constable revealed the guy had just completed his training and hence 'very green; in his interpretation and applictaion of the law.

Cheers..

Paul

PS I was allowed to merrily carry my 'offensive weapon', concealed, theerfater.

I took an 020T to Australia in a holdall in the overhead locker, this was in '99 so before 911. No problems at either end, which looking back now is unbelievable really, especially getting on the plane with it at Heathrow. The Aussie Customs were more bothered that it had been 'sterilized' before bringing it into their country. I sold it over there, so never found out if I would have got it back home.

A few weeks ago on one of those cop shows showing how our "boys in blue" beat down the nasty crims every time, a lad was arrested for carrying a chainsaw in public (with a bar cover in place). He was your typical tracky bottomed chavvy type, he actually hadnt committed any offence prior to his arrest, but a concerned member of the public had reported him so they had to follow up. He was released without charge, the saw was confiscated. He had a previous record, so wasnt sqeaky-clean. So if you have a criminal record be more aware, strip the bar and chain, empty the fuel etc and wear a company t-shirt so you look like you're in the course of your daily emloyment. You could buy a chainsaw case to carry up to mid-sized saws about too.

I bought an MS660 36" bar and a leaf blower in Chicago 5 months after 9/11.

Ten seconds after telling the check in girl at O'Hare airport that I had a chainsaw in my bag I had two big soldiers with machine guns standing behind me!

My bottom wobbled. :laugh1:

Lucky they didn't try to do you for a chemical attack
